Training
Through a variety of state and federal programs, Michigan Works! Kent & Allegan Counties is able to provide employers a number of training options free of charge that can help develop a stronger, skilled and educated workforce.
Michigan Works! Kent & Allegan Counties even offers On-The-Job-Training (OJT) programs for newly hired employees meeting certain requirements, which can help workers acquire occupational skills in a paid working environment. By taking advantage of this program, employers are eligible to be reimbursed for up to 50 percent of the participating employee’s wage during the training period.
Free workshops and training programs are also offered on a regular basis at Michigan Works! Kent & Allegan Counties Service Centers on topics such as:
- Basic Computer Training
- GED Assistance
- Leadership Development: STEPS to Economic and Personal Success
- English as a second language
- Conflict Resolution
- Occupational Skills Training
